There are few things that gardeners hate more than the sudden disappearance of lovingly nurtured plants, freshly bought flowers or tender lettuce shoots that seem to disappear overnight. Usually not by the ground but by greedy, loudly smacking mouths (or so I imagine).
And in my cottage garden idyll, the same processes repeat themselves every year in order to somehow or other get the advancing artillery of the Spanish slug (that miserable slug) under control.

The year (and the night) usually begins with a flashlight collecting flies in the twilight (and then what?!), because one thing is certain - I can't harm a fly.
That’s why we’re now putting snail-friendly snail control strategies to the ultimate test.
